Empowering the Vulnerable in Karungu County through Skill Development
On 7th July 2022, a group of volunteers visited Karungu County in Kalungu District, Uganda. The volunteers made a stop at Kevin Memorial Primary School located in Bwasandeku Parish, Kawule Village, to identify the problems that the locals, especially the youth, widows, and orphans, were facing. The team's primary objective was to empower the vulnerable members of the community through skill development. During the visit, the volunteers conducted a charity event, where they provided scholastic materials such as books, pens, pencils, and other stationery items to the students. They also sensitized the youth about the importance of education for a better future. The team also distributed dry food items such as rice, soap, sugar, clothes, shoes, and pads to the widows and orphans. The next step for the team is to identify skills that can be taught to the youth, widows, and orphans, to help them become self-reliant. The skills will vary depending on the needs of the community members, but they could include vocational training such as tailoring, carpentry, and bricklaying. By empowering the vulnerable members of the Karungu County community, the team hopes to reduce poverty levels and increase access to education and employment opportunities. The project will not only benefit the individuals who receive the training, but also the wider community as they will have more skilled labor and improved living standards.
Empowering the Vulnerable in Nandegejja Village through Education and Skill Development
On 21st December 2022, a group of volunteers visited Nandegejja Village in Kabuwambo Parish, Busimbi Sub-County, Busimbi County, Mityana District, Uganda. The team's primary aim was to identify the challenges that the vulnerable members of the community, including the youth, widows, and orphans, were facing. The next step for the team is to empower them through education and skill development. During the visit, the volunteers conducted a charity event at Nandegejja Primary School. They distributed scholastic materials such as books, pens, pencils, and other stationery items to the students to support their education. The team also sensitized the youth about the importance of education and how it can provide them with a better future. Additionally, the volunteers distributed dry food items such as rice, soap, sugar, clothes, and shoes to the widows and orphans to support their basic needs. The team's next step is to identify the skills that can be taught to the vulnerable members of the community to help them become self-sufficient. The skills could include vocational training such as tailoring, carpentry, and farming. These skills will not only help the individuals who receive them but also benefit the wider community by creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty levels. The project aims to empower the vulnerable members of the Nandegejja community by providing them with education and skill development opportunities. By doing so, the project hopes to promote self-sufficiency, increase access to education and employment opportunities, and improve the living standards of the community members. Through this project, the team seeks to make a positive impact on the lives of the youth, widows, and orphans in Nandegejja Village.
